John M. Chivington

John Milton Chivington (1821-1894) was a Methodist minister and officer of the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry. He commanded the detachment that destroyed the Confederate supply train at the Battle of Glorieta Pass, and in 1864 the troops responsible for the Sand Creek massacre.
