"Gettysburg of the West"
editCasualty numbers
editInfobox and the aftermath section both give 78 Union wounded, but the CWSAC summary linked at the bottom has different totals again. Which are we following? Should probably say so in a note rather than leaving a reader to work it out. — Yardley_Tuck (talk) 15:50, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
Following the OR returns. CWSAC rounds, and counts the 26th separately in places. I'll add a footnote when I get a chance. — Dunmore_Sedge (talk) 10:12, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
Map is not to scale
editWhoever made the sketch map put Kozlowski's about the same distance from Pigeon's as Johnson's is, and it isn't - it's roughly six miles east against a mile and a half west. Caption says not to scale but it's misleading enough that I'd rather redraw it. Anyone object? — Ignatia_Pellerin (talk) 18:33, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
The lead says the nickname is "of recent origin" and cites Alberts, but Alberts is arguing against the phrase, not dating it. Does anyone have an actual first use? I've seen it attributed to the 1987 excavation coverage but can't find the article. — Dunmore_Sedge (talk) 14:22, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
Agree it's poorly sourced. I'd leave it in the lead though, it's what most readers arrive looking for. Maybe reword to say it's a popular label rather than trying to date it. — Perpetua_Blakemore (talk) 09:41, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
the comparison doesnt really hold up anyway, 2500 men total vs 160,000. the reason it stuck is the supply train thing, one raid decided a campaign, thats the interesting part not the scale — __newfactsnevergetold__ (talk) 21:08, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
